8th part of the First Rio City Aesthetic Marathon (concep): 1.559 kilometers in 15:24 minutes – completed on Tuesday, April 12th 2016, in the quarter Barra da Tijuca (overall map). The painter, object artist and restaurant owner Georgia Lobo (*1965) lives in Rio de Janeiro (more about her).
Why did you choose this part to represent Rio de Janeiro at the First Rio City Aesthetic Marathon?
I like to go for a walk here at this place, even at midday under this sky, this sun – the trees are here to protect us. The heat does not really exhaust you. And there is something special: at different daytimes you can see capybaras around, they move here freely, several of them. They come close to you, are very friendly, affectionate. And it is also convenient: it is near my house, a green place, with few people.
Your favourite art place in Rio?
CCBB (Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil). Because I have seen several wonderful exhibitions there and the place is very impressive, an old building with wonderful architecture.
Your favourite shop in Rio?
Parceria Carioca, there is one in the Shopping da Gávea and another in the Museu do Amanhã. I like the store because it is kind of disrespectful with its decorative objects and clothes in the Carioca style.
Your favourite restaurant in Rio – and what should you order there?
Estação Saúde, Avenida das Américas, 3255, Loja 110, 111, 112, Barra da Tijuca. The restaurant serves natural food, entertainment and art. Apart from the fact that I am the owner, I like this place because you can eat well there and enjoy the paintings that I produce. The atmosphere is nice and relaxed, the food is home-made and offered for a fair price.
